Step Away from the Chaos

Artisan Scented Soy Candle It's the same thing every year, isn't it?  We promise that we will make the holidays easier.  We make pacts with our families and friends that we will calmly enjoy the holidays without bowing to traditions of chaos as our televisions would dictate.  We CAN do this!  We can!

It is always fun to give gifts but what we remember most about past holidays is the time we spent with our families and friends. We can make more time to sip hot cocoa on a friend's sofa.  We can bake cookies for newcomers to our neighborhood. Rather than hosting a holiday party for the masses, maybe we can invite a few people for dinner and game night.  The feeling of the holidays is where the magic lies.  How did you feel when your family was laughing hysterically together or decorating cookies together?  How did you feel when you lit candles and filled your home with the fragrances of past holidays while sipping hot mulled cider?  It really is that simple, isn't it?  We can do this.  Include people who have a hard time during the holidays.  Build a little fire, light those candles, take a deep breath and just enjoy the time you spend with people.  That's the good stuff.  That's the magic of the holidays.

I have been burning the "Pomander" and "Mulled Cider" scented soy candles for the past several weeks.  Pomander will forever remind me of sitting at the kitchen table as a kid in Shreveport, Louisiana poking little cloves into huge naval oranges.  Mulled Cider always brings me back to my tiny apartment in Atlanta sipping cider with friends while inhaling the cinnamon and clove fragrances.  It's heaven!  What are your favorite holiday scent memories?  I love real-life-honest-to-goodness Christmas trees.  They make the house smell fantastic!  I have little 6 oz. "Evergreen" candles lit throughout my house to fill it up even more with that "memory".  These little aromatherapy moments attach themselves to the memories I have of all the people I love.  It's so comforting.  It's just that simple.
